Ceremony of renovating prison was held at the Welikada Prison on 1/02/2020 under the patronage of the Minister of Justice, Human Rights, and Legal Reforms, Mr. Nimal Siripala De Silva and with the participation of the State Minister of Justice, Human Rights, and Legal Reforms, Mr. Mohan Priyadarshana De Silva, the Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. J. J. Rathnasiri, and the Commissioner-General of Prisons, Mr. T.M.J.W Thennakoon to hand over required building materials such as paints, cement, etc. for repairing and painting prison buildings.

Here, Mr. Nimal Siripala De Silva and invited guests painted prison walls by symbolizing the commencement of prison reforms.
